Untitled No. 1 (Me), 2024
chicken wire and acquired objects
32 in. x 18 in. x 19 in.
External
The acquired objects featured on the exterior of the form represent the version of my identity that is most visible to the public eye. Having spent nearly 6 years as the creative director of a band, I’ve travelled across the US and Europe capturing concerts and life on tour. These photographs and experiences dominate my internet presence.
The only external object not related to my role as a creative director is the Rubix cube. I’ve always had a passion for school, math particularly, and often feel that many define me by my dedication to academics.
Internal
The acquired objects featured on the interior of the form represent more personal and private versions of my identity. The base of the chin relates to my struggle with mental health, filled with used tissues, single-use MetroCards from my time in outpatient treatment, animal bones I found in nature, and the Mount Sinai discharge packet from my time in the hospital.
The hanging objects are more positive aspects of my internal identity. The various items carry the essence of specific memories, people, and places in my life.
